Details
Adds valid assignment points before dividing earned points by possible points. A 100-point exam affects the result more than a 10-point quiz.
Multiplies each category average by its weight. When entered weights are below 100%, the current grade is also normalized across the categories entered.
Dropped work, late penalties, extra credit, curves, category caps, and ungraded assignments can make the official grade differ.

Rows without possible points are excluded from points mode until a usable denominator is entered.
Categories with zero weight are excluded from the weighted result.
A total below 100% often means only part of the course is represented; a total above 100% deserves an input check.

Use points when the course grade is based on total earned points. Use weighted categories when the syllabus gives assignments, quizzes, exams, or other groups separate percentages.
If the categories entered total less than 100%, the calculator divides their weighted contribution by the weight represented. It also shows the direct course points represented so you can see both views.
The official system may apply dropped scores, ungraded work, late penalties, extra credit, curves, or category rules that are not represented by the rows entered here.
